Parent Teacher Association

PTA

The PTA is the Parent Teacher Association for Noel Park Primary School. We organise the summer fair, quiz nights and other events, and raise funds for Noel Park Primary School – but it’s not just about the money! We also want to build a real sense of community in the school.

This year there are a number of vacancies on the committee and we would love you to join the organising committee. Don’t worry; this is not a huge commitment – just a few hours here and there, and on the day of the summer fair/ quiz etc. The Committee meets once or twice each term to plan events.

Meetings have often been held in the evenings but we are flexible – it all depends what time suits the majority. We meet in the school if a room is available, or in a local coffee shop. A lot of the planning and organising is done by email to make it easier to fit committee work around childcare/ homework/ work and family life.

 CLASS REPS NEEDED

Would you like to be the class rep for the parents / carers with children in your child’s class? Please contact your class teacher if you would like to volunteer for this role.

WHY DO WE NEED CLASS REPS?

The PTA committee wants to make sure that all the voices of parents, carers and staff at Noel Park Primary are heard. We also want to empower groups of parents and carers from each class. For instance, could your class or year group host a coffee morning? Or could you organise and run a stall at the school fair?

Finally, we need to ensure that the events we run are the events that you would like to see. The best way to do this is to choose 2 parent-carer class reps from each class.

WHAT DOES A CLASS REP DO?

A class rep will spread the word about PTA events and news to parents and carers in his/ her class. Class reps can contact parents by email or phone or speak to them directly in the playground. Class reps can build their own contact lists for parents and carers in the school – for legal reasons, the PTA can only contact you by phone or email if you give us your permission. Class reps can also pass on feedback, queries and suggestions from parents to the PTA.

WHAT ABOUT THE TIME COMMITMENT

The PTA knows that your time is precious – we all have family and/ or work  commitments. Class reps will interact with parents and carers before PTA events – we usually have 6-8 events per year. So the role should take no more than 1 hour per month, with slightly more time needed before bigger events such as the school quiz or school fair.

CAN I SHARE THE ROLE WITH ANOTHER PARENT/ CARER?

Yes. We think that two class reps per class would work best, so please do!

If you are interested in joining the PTA or helping out in any of it's events, please contact the school office.
